Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking official said the attack made him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
